Healthcare Minister Venko Filipce said that he will propose that the state of emergency is extended and that quarantine is imposed in some of he most densely populated parts of Skopje.
The move comes during the latest spike in newly diagnosed cases, likely linked to the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Filipce pointed to four areas of Skopje – Cair, Gazi Baba, Butel and Saraj, as well as the densely populated area of Aerodrom.
This quarantine would be like the one we had in Debar – with restriction of movement in that part of the city or region. We are not thinking about only an evening curfew but broader measures. Our analysis will reveal if that is necessary, Fililpce said.
Filipce had no answer to the question what happens when a resident of Aerodrom works downtown Skopje, or resident in Chair works in Aerodrom?
