After Afrin, Turkey strikes Kurdish controlled Manbij

The Turkish Air Force is heavily bombing the strategic city of Menbij in Aleppo’s northern countryside, pro-YPG activists reported tonight.

According to the reports, the Turkish warplanes launched several airstrikes over Menbij, targeting several areas in and around the city.

No details have been released on casualties.

Tonight’s bombing by the Turkish Air Force comes just hours after the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his forces will continue their military operations past the Afrin Canton.

The US military maintains presence in Manbij, so this military strike has certainly ruffled some feathers at the Pentagon. However, considering Turkey is the main HQ of operations for US military in the Middle East, we don’t foresee Washington daring to say/do anything at this point.
