DUI under pressure to endorse Zaev/Dimitrov as presidential contender?

DUI leader Ali Ahmeti, after meeting with SDS leader Zoran Zaev on Monday, said that the decisions of who should run representing the Government coalition should be in favor of the state, the majority of citizens and parties. He confirmed that talks between the two parties continue at the level of organizational secretaries.

Asked whether DUI would support Zoran Zaev as a candidate, Ahmeti refused to respond. He said that it would be not a good idea a leader of a political party to become president, unless ‘advised’ to do so by the US Embassy.

Asked about Nikola Dimitrov, the DUI leader said that he did not want to endorse names, because there are surveys that should give more concrete information. Ahmeti stressed that he would not run for president.

Following the meeting with Ahmeti, Zaev announced talks with other political parties within, but also outside of the government coalition.

Despite the never ending theater in the country, MINA finds the US Embassy very much favors Siljanovska for president, giving the ordinary people that much impetus to boycott. However, CIA assets Zaev and or Dimitrov are needed as candidates to provide 41% turnout.
