Ex Bulgarian Prime Minister: I am actually Macedonian

15

Sergej Stanishev, the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist party and former Prime Minister, during his appearance as a guest of popular entertaining show “This Saturday” stated that he is Macedonian.

Stanishev, whose partner Monika Josifova is Macedonian, was asked by the host of the TV show if there was jealousy in their relationship?

He responded “That’s a given because she is Macedonian, but so am I”.

Bulgarian media called Stanishev’s admission “sensational”.

For years, even during his days as Prime Minister, both Macedonian and Bulgarian media speculated Stanishev family roots are Macedonian. He never commented on the speculation, but now that he isn’t in power, it seems it was the right moment.

This is pure propaganda. As a Macedonian who identifies as a Bulgarian, I can tell you right now that this article is false. The media did not care about the words of Stanishev, simply because a “Macedonian” in Bulgaria is the exact same as a Bulgarian. This isn’t some sort of stunning confession. It’s nothing. It’s the simple truth that Macedonians and Bulgarians are the same people.

I’m Macedonian, and I have nothing to do with Bulgaria or Bulgarians. Your whole comment is BS. Macedonia has a European history, not a Mongolian one

This comment is incorrect. If you are Macedonian, you are Bulgarian. You are Macedonian diaspora, that much is obvious. Here in Macedonia, nobody cares about what you are saying. Most of us with an IQ above 70 understand we are not “Ancient Macedonians” (lol), but Bulgarians. We want to begin to prosper and join the EU like Bulgaria has. And I repeat, Stanishev calling himself Macedonian is not a big deal whatsoever in Bulgaria, as they understand that Macedonians and Bulgarians are the exact same thing.

        • Macedonian1

Incorrect. Macedonians don’t have Mongolian roots.

Tigger, Congratulations on having the dumbest comment I’ve ever read. First, you’re a Macedonian who identifies as a Bulgarian, thus quickly establishing your IQ for everyone here. You can identify as a monkey if you wish, it’s your right. Second, you say the article is false, it’s propaganda, only for the next word to be that the Bulgarian media didn’t care what Stanishev had to say.
Oh no, Zaev, is this you?
MINA, do me a favor and delete this f-ing tatar’s comment.

I identify as a billionaire playboy James bond, but that doesn’t mean it’s true.

More diaspora, obviously. Not the same and you know it. We are historically Bulgarians. At the very least, most here know the “Ancient Macedonians” thing is a joke.

          • Macedonian1

            Macedonians don’t have Mongolian roots

Lol Goran. There is a good chance Tiger is Zaev… but he’s actually a greek troll that should be banned for good.

  • john doe

This article is quite deceiving. I’m a Macedonian who understands he is Bulgarian, and the Bulgarian media did not call it “sensational.” They did not care, at all, actually. This is because in Bulgaria they understand that Macedonians and Bulgarians are the same thing. Most Macedonians have woken up to this fact as well. Most people that deny this today, like all the people commenting here, are diaspora. AKA irrelevant.

  • john doe

Just a slight correction MINA: Bulgarian media did not call this “sensational.” They didn’t pay any attention to this as it simply isn’t news. Bulgarians, like the majority of Macedonians, understand we are Bulgarians, the same people.

    • Risto

“Like the majority of Macedonians”? “Here in macedonia”?
Idiot, my dads family is all in macedonia and not one would call themselves Bulgarian. You are obviously a troll, you do not represent the Macedonians so don’t pretend to be something you are not. Be gone from here, return to your Bulgarian cave.

      • Billy

He is not even tatar, he is a greek troll, which means he is either Vlach, Macedonian or Christian Turk… he’s posting on greek websites.

Doesn’t Bulgaria make it illegal for people to claim themselves non-Bulgarian (other than Roma). Isn’t it not allowed on the Bulgarian census to declare one’s self a Macedonian.
