SDS official Frosina Remenski, during a debate with DPNE’s Vlatko Gjorcev said the opinion of Macedonian cities is not important, it is the Government that decides and each designated city will receive migrants.

The debate came as a result of several city councils around the country voting against bringing migrants into the country.
Ohrid was the latest city council to vote against bringing in migrants. 14 DPNE members in the city council voted against the proposed Government measure to bring over 15,000 muslims in Ohrid. Several SDS members in the city council left the meeting after receiving instructions from SDS VP Muhamed Zekiri. Others who stayed refused to vote, however the 14 DPNE votes were sufficient to defeat the Government proposal.
The vote, however, by all city councils is meaningless, says SDS MP Frosina Remenski – “The Government decides what will be done at a central level, the migrant buildings will be built, and I don’t know why city councils vote because their opinion is worthless”.
DPNE council member Ilija Arnaudovski before the vote stated Ohrid doesn’t have the capacity to house such a massive increase in population of people who will be impossible to integrate not just in the city, but the country.
“We have seen massive tensions across Europe from these migrants, we have seen lots of problems with them even when they transited through Macedonia, they brought crime and even raped a 7 year old girl. Ohrid doesn’t have the capacity to handle this now or in the future” said Arnaudovski.
So far Bitola, Ohrid, Prilep, Kriva Palanka and Demir Kapija have all voted against the Government proposal as soon as they received their official letters of the proposal.
