Global Firepower ranks Macedonia among World’s Weakest Militaries

Global powers ranked by potential military strength.

The finalized Global Firepower ranking below utilizes over 50 individual factors to determine a given nation’s PowerIndex (‘PwrIndx’) score with categories ranging from military might and financials to logistical capability and geography.

The unique, in-house formula allows for smaller, more technologically-advanced, nations to compete with larger, lesser-developed ones and special modifiers, in the form of bonuses and penalties, are applied to further refine the annual list.

According to the rank, the top three spots (expectedly) go to USA, Russia and China.

What is interesting for us is the bottom of the list where Macedonia finds itself. Since SDSM took over in 2017/18, Macedonia has fallen 15 positions and finds itself 131st out of 139 nations. Not taking into account Iceland who doesn’t have an army, Macedonia is the weakest member of NATO. Its firepower is smaller even than Montenegro who ranks 123rd and Albania who ranks 113th.

Among ex-Yu countries, Serbia is the strongest and ranks 61st, Slovenia is 88th and Bosnia is 121st.

The only nations ranking lower than Macedonia in firepower were Eritrea, Suriname, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Liberia and Bhutan.
