Ivanov heads to Moscow to meet with Patriarch Kirill and Putin

Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov left for a two day visit to the Russian Federation, where he will meet with President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill.

On Tuesday President Ivanov attends a ceremony at the Christ Savior cathedral in Moscow, where he is one of the political leaders decorated Patriarch Kirill for their work to improve cooperation between Orthodox Christian nations. The award bears the name of late Patriarch Alexy II.

The award is given to President Ivanov for his work to increase the role of religion in society, promote religious tolerance and improve ties between Orthodox nations.

Besides President Ivanov, the award will be given to Coptic Patriarch Tawadros II and to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

On Wednesday, President Ivanov will meet with President Putin.
