Within the manifestation ‘Macedonia honors Ss. Cyril and Methodius’, President Gjorge Ivanov laid a wreath Thursday on the tomb of St. Cyril in the Basilica di San Clemente in Rome.
Ivanov also visited the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, where a plaque in Macedonian language, extending the gratitude of Macedonian people to Ss. Cyril and Methodius, was unveiled in 2015 on his initiative.
This evening the President will attend a concert of Baklava ethno-group at the Ghione Theater – traditional cultural event that accompanies the honoring of Ss. Cyril and Methodius.
On Friday, the Macedonian delegation, led by President Ivanov, will have an audience with Pope Francis. A meeting with the Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who is Vatican’s Secretary of State is also scheduled for Friday.
