Macedonia’s Governmental citizenship office which tracks the number of citizenships and the declared ethnicity of each citizen has issued the following numbers:
Macedonian Citizenships issued: 2.4 million
Citizens identified themselves as Macedonian: 1,883,612 = 72.66% of population
Citizens identified themselves as Albanian: 375,601 = 16.7% of population
Citizens identified themselves as Turkish: 3.85% of population
Citizens identified themselves as Roma: 2.66% of population
Citizens identified themselves as Serbian: 1.78% of population
Citizens identified themselves as Bosnian: 0.84% of population
Note: Over 100,000 ethnic Albanians in Macedonia also hold Kosovo citizenship and are recent recipients of Macedonian citizenship.
