Macedonia’s president considers decision to expel Russian diplomat “rushed and wrong”

Macedonia, as a long time candidate country for EU membership, follows the EU’s policy, and their decisions made by consensus at the EU level. However, even at the EU level there are numerous member countries who often disagree and do not follow dictates by Brussels.

Since the decisions to expel Russian diplomats do not represent an expression of harmonized views of all EU member states, but it is about individual decisions of individual member states, the President of the Republic of Macedonia believes that the decision of the Macedonian MFA is hasty, wrong and rushed.

The President of Macedonia calls for restraint from hasty steps in foreign policy, in order to prevent possible damage to the achievements of the strategic goals of the Republic of Macedonia.

How was the Russian diplomat kicked out? Cowardly of course, this is Macedonia. While the Russian Ambassador was opening an Art exhibit in Ohrid, MoFA boss and quisling Nikola Dimitrov saw an opening to kick out the Russian diplomat.

Although Macedonia is just a drop of water in the ocean of world politics and has no close ties with neither the UK (whom the junta government expressed solidarity), the same applies to Russia with no deep ties either. But leave it to Macedonia to create a problem with major powers, in this case Russia. Do you remember the recognition of Taiwan (greatly angering China) by the amateurish Government led by Tupurkovski which immediately resulted in removing of UN guards from the Kosovo border which then lead to NATO inspired aggression from Kosovo?

As Lavrov put it eloquently today: The Skripal case showed us which nations in Europe are independent from NATO and the US, and which are not. So far Austria, Slovenia Hungary and Portugal are holding quite strong. Slovenia continues their tradition since Yugoslavia times of not taking orders from anyone. The best reaction by far came from New Zealand with their Prime Minister claiming “We really want to expel someone, but the Russians just don’t have spies here”. God bless the Kiwis.

  • Its Just Me

    We must expel Zaev asap..
or wait for the next bigger mistake.. First of all, when is Zaev gonna recognize Macedonia?

  • Its Just Me

    Yes, tooooo rushed decision…
How cool is Bulgarias decision, no expulstion, just invite their own Ambassador for coffee?
We could not have done this?
Zaev is not following “our friends”
Zaev must not make a decision WITHOUT CONSULTING MR. IVANOV.
I love this man, always knows what is right and does why is needed..
What if somebody wants to expel Zaev for no reason, how would that feel, “friendly” right..If we expel Zaev it will not spoil our friendship (says Zaev).. Is that an idea what we should do…?
What if Bulgaria gets angry with us due to this? Does this now ruin our “friendship with Bulgaria too?

  • Goran Stavreski

The Vulgars can’t expel a Russian diplomat because Borisov’s junior partner in Govt (Ataka) told him if he expels a diplomat they will quit the Govt and have to go to elections again (third in three years).

  • Its Just Me

As an American of Macedonian descent, I can’t begin to understand the logic coming out of Macedonia. Its seems like a bad dream. We are the victims yet ever bit of rhetoric coming our of Skopje sets the nation back. Let me clarify, first off:
-What is the logic in making Albanian an official language. They inhabit less than 25% population of which the true figures are flawed due to the dual citizenry of Kosovaars in the north.
-Macedonians only have one homeland. Albanians already have a homeland! Why not grant Macedonians in Albania dual language because a true accurate censes will determine the ethnicity not only in Macedonia, but Albania as well. Lets not even bring up Greece!
-If Albanians envision this multi cultural ideology of dual language in Macedonia, whereby we will live in peace as brothers, then why haven’t they Recognizes the constitutional name, Republic of Macedonia. The intentions are plain as day!
-Furthermore, the language of some of these leftists regarding the Diaspora, total communist ideology. Brainwashed! The communists, have for the last 100 years nearly buried Macedonia. Every moment they rise to power, another piece of Macedonia get chipped away.
    1. As Macedonia gained its independence from Yugoslavia it was the communist regime that created the deadlock with Greece. Right out of the gate, instead of sending diplomats and making small strides of friendship, we made the most erroneous national foulups that still cause pain to the citizen to this day.
    2. The Agean Macedonians joined the communist forces in Greece and got slaughtered as a result, nearly lost everything. Family’s destroyed!
    3. It was Gligorov who gave up our name to the UN, entered as FYROM.
    4. The privatization and destruction of all the factories in Macedonian.
    5. TAT Bank scam wiped out the diasporas cash.
    6. How about our mother church and religion!
    7. Would not even teach Macedonian history in schools.
    8. Should be given credit for making Macedonia the poorest country in Europe since the Ottoman Empire, which is why so many people left!
    I could go on….
