MoI suspends 17 policemen over failure to act against protesters

Ministry of Interior’s Sector for Internal Control and Professional Standards Unit (PSU) proposed disciplinary procedure and temporary suspension from work against 11 police employees from SVR Skopje and four members of Rapid Deployment Unit.

In addition a senior officer at the Ministry was served a decision for a temporary suspension as well over the outbursts of incident in the Macedonian parliament building which took place on April 27.

Based on their findings the Ministry of Interior’s Sector for Internal Control found police officers did not react appropriately and acted contrary to the Police Act, police operations manual, the instructions on behavior and mutual relations between police officers and contrary to the Code of Police Ethics, the press release reads.
