Chaos in Macedonia: killings two days in a row

Last night, two people were shot and killed with a machine gun, in a drive by shooting. The mayor of the Skopje suburb of Butel, Velimir Smilevski confirmed that he was very close to the mobster Kamer Idrizi who was employed in his office as an “adviser”. His nephew was badly injured as well and MINA finds he too died after being placed in induced coma.

Idrizi was close to the ruling SDSM party and was often pictured with Smilevski, people from the Mayor’s entourage, in some instances brandishing a gun, and also with President Pendarovski and Zaev’s chief of staff Muhamed Zekiri.

Smilevski tried to paint a positive picture of the mobster, insisting that he “never discussed business with him”.

He was my neighbor, two years younger, and I’m the same age with his brother. We were friends since our youngest age. We never did any business together. He was always good in my book, Smilevski said.

Idrizi was a well known mobster. His body was riddled by at least 14 bullets. Over 100 of his mobster friends and family members last night forced their way into the City Center hospital and demolished the Urgency Center, brandishing their weapons and asking doctors to reanimate their friend who was pronounced dead on arrival.

This evening, MINA finds there was another shootout in the suburb of Chento, there are killed and injured, however the Ministry of Interior has not released any information. This shootout is tied to Idrizi’s killing last night.
