Today is a time of hope for Macedonia. Citizens are rightly focused on formal ties linking Macedonia with its neighbors to Europe, with the United States, NATO, the EU, the Prespa Treaty with Greece and the Treaty of Friendship with Bulgaria. Significant progress has been made last year and we are looking forward to good news from the NATO Summit next week.
This was pointed out by Macedonian Prime Minister and American Ambassador Jess Baily in his address marking the celebration of the United States Independence Day on July 4, which took place today at the US Embassy.
In his speech in the presence of SDS leader Zoran Zaev, several deputies and MPs, leaders of political parties from the government and the opposition, NGO representatives, he also referred to the values that connect both countries.
The values shared include, but are not limited to political oppression, stifling opposition, shutting down opposition newspapers and TV stations (Dnevnik, TV Nova..), financing NGOs, terrorism and open borders.
