US Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Brian Hoyt Yee announced his resignation today, reports Al Jazeera. According to the portal, the State Department will replace Hoyt Yee with Jonathan Moore, the current OSCE boss in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As a reminder, Balkan media has been speculating for at least six months that Hoyt Yee will likely be the next US Ambassador to Macedonia. However, according to Serbian daily Blic Hoyt Yee will likely become the new US Ambassador to Bosnia and not Macedonia.
Several weeks ago, Hoyt Yee, in an interview with Montenegro daily “Vijesti” announced the US will become heavily involved in the Balkans in 2018, as a deterrent to the announced Russian and Chinese investments.
The Chinese trillion dollar “silk road” mega project which will create a new trade route was scheduled to run right through Greece – Macedonia …. ending in Germany.
