Macedonian national team captain Goran Pandev will continue to play for Genoa after extending his stay in the Serie A club for a further year.

Italian media report that Pandev will play his third year in the Genoa jersey, despite having multi-million offers from clubs in China, Turkey and Poland.

The Macedonian forward agreed to a salary cut from the current EUR 1.2 million to more than EUR 300,000 per year.

Pandev, 33, played as a youngster for Belasica, but moved to Italy’s Inter at the age of 18. He was loaned to Spezia and Ancona and afterwards switched to Lazio, where he made a name for himself. After five years in Rome, he transferred to Inter and won the Champions League with the club. Following a three-year stay in Napoli, Pandev had a forgettable one-year stint in Turkey’s Galatasaray. He then returned to Italy, this time in Genoa, for the closing stages of his career.

Pandev is Macedonia’s all-time leading scorer with 29 goals in 87 appearances.
