The Russian Foreign Ministry declared a diplomat in the small Macedonian Embassy in Moscow as persona non grata.
The move comes after Macedonia following the orders of the US Embassy expelled yet another Russian diplomat in August, citing “unspecified violations of diplomatic conduct”.
These tit-for-tat expulsions have become a regular feature in relations between Macedonia and Russia over the past years.
MINA finds the person expelled is Olivera Chaushevska Dimovska, the vd Ambassador to Russia, which means, Macedonia will have zero diplomats in the largest country in the world and a permanent UN Security Council member.
Macedonia provoked Russia back in 2018 after it expelled a Russian diplomat in Skopje to show “solidarity” with the US and UK for the alleged Skripal poisoning.
