Skopje Mayor Danela Arsovska ordered the parking utility company to prepare new, reduced parking fees. Overall, prices need to go down by a quarter.
The new prices will be adopted by the end of the week. They will apply both to the zoned street parking and to the multilevel parking garages.
Macedonia’s capital has one of the most expensive parking fees across Europe. On average residents in Skopje pay 1 euro per hour to park their vehicle. As comparison, across Greece it’s difficult to find a street where one needs to pay for parking, parking is generally free. In Macedonia’s capital, over 80% of the residential streets have parking meters installed, it’s quite surreal.
