Zaev’s Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (ZPPO) Skopje today opened an investigation into Dr. Zan Mitrev, suspected of committing fraud and misleading patients treated for Covid-19 with the hemofiltration method in his private hospital for two years.
A Skopje judge has approved the proposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office involving the doctor Zan Mitrev’s case to seize his passport as he is considered an alleged flight risk, the Skopje Criminal Court confirmed to MINA.
On July 18, the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an probe into the illegal experimental treatment of patients in the “Zan Mitrev” clinic from Skopje, following the release of the “Bad Blood” documentary by the Investigative Reporting Lab (IRL).

Zaev and Filipce enter Medical Business via Re-Medika
What Zaev’s prosecutors avoid mentioning is the little known fact that Zoran Zaev and his Minister of Death (Health) Venko Filipce have purchased the Re-Medika Clinic from Mincho Jordanov. Re-Medica is in direct competition with Zan Mitrev’s hospital “Phillip II”. In fact, Zan Mitrev’s clinic enjoys a great deal of confidence among Macedonia’s public as quite literally everyone who undergoes any heart procedure goes to Dr. Zan Mitrev, widely regarded as one of the best heart surgeons in the world.
As a result, Zaev and Filipce have started a smear campaign against Dr. Mitrev in an effort to destroy his reputation and his hospital.
