Pustec Mayor Edmond Temelko has been released from detention and placed under house arrest following a positive opinion of the Special Prosecution Office (SPO), the Criminal Court stated in a press briefing.

Few days ago, the Macedonian Alliance for European Integration (MAEI) – a political party of Macedonian nationals living in Albania – called on Macedonia’s authorities to release Temelko from prison considering his poor health.

Temelko has been in detention since 26 September. The SPO brought criminal charges against him for electoral fraud during the 2013 municipal poll in Macedonia, however no evidence was ever shown for any of it.

DPMNE planned a large protest in front of the Government HQ to put pressure on the Government and release Temelko from detention. The protest has been postponed to December 3rd. DPMNE states the SPO has repeatedly pressured Temelko into signing fabricated statements in order to implicate the DPMNE leadership for wrongdoing.
