The owner of the Ukrainian giant Shakhtar Donetsk, Rinat Akhmetov, is negotiating to take over the football and handball club Vardar from Russian businessman Sergey Samsonenko, who has invested in the two red and black clubs for more than five years, reports “Sport 1”.

Akhmetov is one of the richest Ukrainian oligarchs whose wealth is estimated at $6.5 billion dollars, owns the holding company System Capital Management, which is the main financial and industrial corporation in Ukraine. Since October 1995, the Ukrainian billionaire is the owner of Shakhtar Donetsk, making him a dominant club in his country and a regular participant in the Champions League.

According to information from Sport 1, a private jet with people close to Akhmetov’s this weekend arrived in secrecy in Skopje to start negotiations with Samsonenko to take over both clubs (handball and football).
